All foreign students MUST request for their official visa application documents via the CMU-IRD-VISA Online, within 1 week after confirming status to study at Chiang Mai University. These official visa application documents need to be presented by the student to the Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate where the student wishes to apply for a Non-Ed VISA or at the Immigration Office where the student wishes to extend his/her Non-Ed VISA.
CMU-IRD-Visa is the online system develops to facilitate necessary official visa application documents for foreign students who reside outside of Thailand to request the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate in their country for entry visa with Non-Ed type, and for foreign students in Thailand with a Non-Immigrant Visa (ED) to request the Immigration Bureau to extend their visa.
After obtaining your necessary information, International Relations Division will process all necessary documents within 1 week. You can follow up the status of the process online.
Please upload a clear scanned copy of your passport information page (in A4 size and pdf file format only).
Please check the progress of Official Visa Application Documents Status online in step 4 and download the documents as a PDF file. In some countries, the Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate need the student show more information on study plan, University Acts, etc, you can download other necessary documents in this step.
Chiang Mai University will provide official visa application documents to students only in PDF files via CMU-IRD-VISA Online. (Download scanned file in Step 4). If students need original documents then please inform the International Relations Division – IRD to send the original documents to the address indicated in the system. A fee will be charged for EMS postal delivery via the online system.
